Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

 Define and describe the following laboratory analyses:

    1. BOD
    2. CBOD
    3. COD
  2. Describe the relationship between oxygen demand and water quality
  3. Describe the basic steps in the BOD procedure
  4. Calculate BOD based upon laboratory bench sheet input data
  5. Describe the sampling, preservation and holding times for oxygen demand samples
  6. Apply the results of BOD analysis to plant operation
  7. List and describe the quality control procedures used in the BOD analysis
  8. Describe the relationship between BOD, CBOD and COD
