Online Lesson1. Pumps Lesson 3 -

At the successful completion of this lesson, the learner will be able to

  1. Define basic hydraulics terms to include pressure, head, headloss, cavitation and horsepower.
  2. Perform the following calculations: basic pressure/head conversions, total dynamic head, water, brake and motor horsepower, wire-to-water efficiency.
  3. Define pump cavitation and identify the causes thereof.
  4. Identify the two pumping conditions.
  5. Identify factors that contribute to headloss in a pumping system.
  6. Define maximum practical and theoretical suction lift.
